Born in a musical background in the city of Jabalpur, Vilas Mandape received his early education under the late Dhrupdacharya Shri. Keshavraj ji Tamhankar. After receiving education from Pt. Anand Joshi, he got an MA in music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh. After this, for intensive training in Khayal singing, he received the guidance of Ustad Muhammad Hussain Khan of Pune. Vilas Mandape is a commerce graduate from Jabalpur University. He gave his first performance as a stage artiste at the age of six and received fame by participating in all the important music festivals of the country. Presently he is working as a lecturer in Vocal music at Bhaktkhande Music College. Many of his disciplines are performing artistes.
